The 1962 United States midterm elections were held on November 6. Although the Democrats of President John F. Kennedy lost seats to the Republicans in the House of Representatives they retained their majority in that chamber. The Democrats also increased their majority in the Senate.
The Democrats made a net gain of four seats from the Republicans, maintaining control of the Senate, with Democrats having about 2/3 of the Senate seats.
The Democrats had a net loss of four seats in the House, but still came away with a 259–176 majority.
